These are a few of my favorite things- Spoonie Edition

Welcome to another edition of These are a Few of my Favorite Things! Today I am sharing 10 of my absolute FAVORITE products that help me live as comfortably as possible despite all the braces, needles, and tape. There are a couple you have already heard me talk about from my first favorite things post, but they are so good that they deserve another mention! They are in no particular order and I will leave links to everything so you don’t have to search these items! Please note that I am NOT sponsored by any of these brands or products- I genuinely love them and use them everyday.

#1 Body Pillow

Yes I know you have seen me talk about this pillow in past posts, but it’s because it is AMAZING! My life and sleep quality have drastically improved. For long infusions we would take it to the hospital with us, every night I sleep with it and so far it has mostly kept me from dislocating joints at night, every morning before Jared leaves for work he brings me down and brings my pillow down too (which helps my joints stay stable while I’m working on the couch) AND we even travel with it because it has been that helpful.

#2 Ice Socks

Okay so out of all the terrible symptoms the conditions I fight bring, one of my most hated is “hot feet” and this symptom likes to strike in the middle of the night. Now Jared and I have our bedroom on the second floor (due to how the house is built we couldn’t move a bedroom downstairs) so until we can afford a stair lift, he carries me down the stairs in the morning, and up at night. The reason I mention that is to point out that I have no way to get to the freezer in the middle of the night. I used to keep disposable ice packs by my bed with wraps in case I got “hot feet,” until I found these ICE SOCKS!!! They have been AMAZING and I can’t believe I didn’t look for them sooner! definitely order a size up if you want them to be roomy and not tight.

#3 Masks

These masks are washable and SO comfortable. A friend of mine with MCAS made them originally but she has a lot medically going on so my sister in love learned how to sew them for me! As she says, “I make your necessity an accessory!”

#4 Medical Cart

We had a hard time keeping all my medical supplies organized for quite some time, and once I got my port I knew we needed to find a better system. This cart is adorable, durable, and dependable.

#5 Adhesive Remover

The amount of tape and adhesive that I use in a week is insane. After we take off tape, my CGM, or deafness my port we use this. It is by far my secret weapon and it has helped me rip less skin when taking off adhesive. I cannot say enough good things about this product.

(You can buy the wipes or a big bottle, I suggest the bottle, but the packets are good for on the go!

#6 Heated Blanket

Obviously in the summer I do not use my heated blanket, but this is my best friend in the winter! This specific one is not being sold anymore but I found one that is almost exactly the same. I also suggest a full/queen size blanket- lots of room to cuddle with your dog or wrap yourself up in!

#7 Tubie Clips

These are life savers. Not only do they protect my line if it gets pulled, they protect my neck from being strangled if I am infusing while I sleep (lol), and they look hella cute!

#8 Funny Graphic Tees

If we can’t laugh about what we go through, it will be extra miserable! The shop has lots of funny and encouraging sayings.

#9 Medical ID

Medical ID’s are really important, and they literally save lives. I am a huge fan of the gold filled ID- it looks like a regular bracelet! Basically it protects you, but won’t stand out and draw attention to someone walking by.

#10 Med Organizers

These are my favorite organizers and I have one in blue, green, and purple. They have truly been worn out and have proven to be durable after I think a year and a half now.
