5 Must Haves when Traveling with a Chronic Illness

January 9, 2022January 16, 20221 Comment

A couple times a year Jared and I road trip to Pennsylvania to see his family, and like many with chronic illnesses, I struggle with lengthy car rides. Over the past 7 years, I have figured out what tools make the travel itself more manageable for my body. Today, I want to share my must … Continue reading 5 Must Haves when Traveling with a Chronic Illness

The holiday season can be very stressful, and stress uses up spoons like crazy! For the first time in all 9 years of having a chronic illness, this year I think I have figured out how to balance holiday activities and hospital trips. I am going to share my tips with you in hope that … Continue reading Are the Holidays Holding You Hostage?

Would You Treat Me Differently If…

October 5, 2018October 5, 2018Leave a comment

If I was a presidents spouse/daughter, would you treat me differently? Would you look at my chart,  see I have a rare illness, and ask me about it and look it up or would you assume I’m making it up just because you haven’t heard of it or only know a couple things about it? … Continue reading Would You Treat Me Differently If…

Signs of Being Strong: taking care of your body when you just don’t feel like it

September 7, 2018September 7, 2018Leave a comment

You know those days when you just want to take a 5 minute break (more like 5 year break) from your body? We all deal with this feeling at some point but the other day I hit my max. Jared and I were at the hospital and I was having a particularly hard day. We … Continue reading Signs of Being Strong: taking care of your body when you just don’t feel like it

Signs of Being Strong: Going back to PT

August 20, 2018August 16, 2018Leave a comment

There are many ways people show strength. With a chronic illness, it is easy for outsiders to see us as strong, but we seldom agree with them. Being strong should mean that you can compete in the olympics or hike up a mountain, not lay in bed all day. There are so many ways we … Continue reading Signs of Being Strong: Going back to PT

My favorite salty foods for POTS!

August 16, 2018August 15, 20181 Comment

Struggling to keep my salt intake up is a daily battle for me, unlike my husband and grandmother who I swear could eat salt from the shaker. Anyone with POTS has been told to utilize salt pills, but they hurt my stomach so I only take them when it's 100% necessary. To add insult to … Continue reading My favorite salty foods for POTS!

Three Things… You just need Three

August 6, 2018April 18, 2020Leave a comment

Every morning starts out relatively the same for me: achy joints, jumping heart rates, nausea, low blood sugars- the list goes on. Then there are those other mornings, the ones that feel like death is upon you. I am sure you know what I am talking about. On days like that I have trouble being … Continue reading Three Things… You just need Three

As I tend to this garden bed, the Lord continues to tend to my heart.
Just need to take a moment to appreciate my man 🤟🏼
Since I started working on my refresh on the cruise ship, I have struggled to complete it. There are so many things going on that make for a heavy heart, not only in our world, but very much in my own life from disease progression to everyday uncertainty.
We always talk about how doing something imperfectly is better than doing nothing, and that applies to filling out your TL late!
Lord, let this prayer strengthen the posture of my weary heart and give hope to my overwhelmed mind.
This vacation was so, so wonderful ☀️
